Jacksonville Commercial Electrician Project:
Jacksonville Zoo- African Forest
August 22, 2018
The commercial electrical department of American Electrical Contracting is proud to have contributed to the success of the Jacksonville Zoo- African Forest project in .
The Jacksonville Zoo project was an entirely custom project and was one of the most unique opportunities in the region. The goal was to keep the animals safe and create an amazing aesthetic. The AEC team was incredibly detailed in planning and work to ensure the project was done safely and created the wow factor needed.
The biggest aspect of the project was the 40-foot Kapok Tree in the heart of the exhibit. The tree required internal electricity, LED lighting and needed to be the centerpiece of the entire exhibit. Our electricians worked closely with the design-and-build teams to pull this off. The AEC team also had to work to conceal the electrical from attendees as well as the animals
While 75 percent of the project was new, 25 percent consisted of renovating the existing great apes exhibit. The team used the foundation of the cave to showcase the architecture with interesting lighting.
With electrical service to five buildings in different exhibits, this project enabled the team to show off our strategic planning abilities on a special project.
