Jacksonville Commercial Electrician Project:
Whole Foods Market (Jacksonville Beach)

November 27, 2020

The commercial electrical department of American Electrical Contracting is proud to have contributed to the success of the Whole Foods Market (Jacksonville Beach) project in . The project covered 40,000 square feet.

This project began in March 2020 and was affected by the pandemic.  However, AEC still finished on time and under budget. Project manager Jay Wilkins and his team navigated their way through the pandemic to safely complete the project by adhering to CDC guidelines while managing morale on the job. The addition of staff temperature checks, mask mandates, extra equipment, and staff safety, made the job very different from what the AEC team was expecting, but our focus on employee safety and comfort helped reduce the effects of the new protocols.

As with any project, challenges arose that required quick thinking and innovation to work through. This is where our on-the-job engineering shines, including making a custom switchgear unit and modifying the components and frame of the switchgear.

Another challenge the team overcame was the Energy Management System. Proper integration of lighting, refrigeration controls and HVAC is important in grocery stores. This required the team to be strategic about planning this aspect of the project.

Wilkins said the most important part of any commercial project is clear communication throughout the entire project. This was especially true during a pandemic crisis and helped us to keep this project moving forward safely.
